For a long time the image of Malaysia were seen from popular, and almost typical imageries found on postcards or calendars at tourism counters or airports. In“TANAH AIR KU: Rendition of Malaysia through the Eyes of 12 Artists” at the Malaysian Embassy in Phnom Penh, the image of Malaysia is presented in varied lights by these selected Malaysian artists.
Complementing the beautifully designed interiors of the newly built complex, “TANAH AIR KU” presents a collection of over 100 bodies of artworks that are displayed throughout the embassy’s premises.
Accompanying the collection is this catalogue that introduces the artists, their respective styles and the interpretation and rationale behind their body of works.
TANAH AIR KU mirrors the essence of multi-cultural Malaysia. The collection is divided into three sub-themes namely “Beautiful Nation”, “One Malaysia”, and “Decorative Aesthetic”. It is aimed at providing the viewer, a glimpse into this beautiful nation, through the visual interpretation of the 12 participating artists.
TANAH AIR KU will become a permanent collection at the Malaysian Embassy in Phnom Penh and Galeri Chandan is honored to play a part in this patriotic endeavor. |
