"Taman Syifa'" or "Healing Garden", a solo art exhibition by Abu Bakar Idris will be held from 18 December 2010 through 13 January 2011 at Galeri Chandan. This will be Abu Bakar's second solo exhibition in 12 years. He will take art enthusiasts and botanical lovers on a visual journey to his garden and learn their many uses and the healing power of these plants.
Visitors of the exhibition will be instantly immersed in the fascinating Abu Bakar's Garden of Healing. Unique and informative compilation of herbal paintings,drawings, sketches and installation will render the curative value of eight main plants - susu kambing, kamunting cina, letup-letup, sireh, ulam raja, lidah jin, mempelas, and belimbing tanah.
Besides that, viewers are able to view specimens of different healing plants and learn how some are cultivated and processed into medicines through the short introductory video documentary with the people who have experienced herbal healing.
"Taman Syifa'" is curated by U-Wei Haji Saari. A unique collaboration effort with the artist that both provide interesting findings and exemplifiers the power that plants have occupied in human belief within our current time and culture.
