Paper is one of the well-known mediums used to record the development of various ideas and cultures and it is seen as a medium of expression in art. However, compared to canvas, it often gets less corresponding appreciation.
Pulp Friction: Going Across The Grain aims to show how an artist challenges himself to use paper as a medium and form of expression and how paper is eternalized as a visual diary of his work. Paper is the closest medium to artists because it is often used for their artistic expressions at a certain point in art making. In this case, paper is used to investigate, sketch, and even as final works. Technical exploration in using paper allows an artist to discover various creative characters.
This exhibition celebrates the distinctive characteristics of works that deals with this fragile medium and gives audience inspiration to re-think how to develop their sense of art so that paper can be used as an integrated part of creative thinking in the practice of contemporary visual art. This exhibition will be held from 6th June through 30th June in Galeri Chandan. |
