For Anggara Tua Sitompul, materials commonly used in the industrial sector can be cultivated for producing artworks with optical effects. Through this solo exhibition, he is presenting his works that are made from aluminum plates, which are threaded and
textural. He produced variety of shapes with the said material. The plates are cut, perforated and stacked in order to make dimensional and dynamic shapes.
The optical impressions can be caught not only from the front, but also from the right and left views. Hence, this exhibition is entitled "dalam ATAS" (literal interpretation, “Deep UP”), presenting dimensions of actual spaces and illusions appearing from the
surfaces of the artworks.
With these works we can experience "in-between space"; illusive and actual spaces at the same time. It is an experience leading to subliminal values that radiate from human relationship and the nature of the material used.
Exhibition starts on 18 November and ends on 11 December 2011 |
